#7 PEI Open House | Gearing up to deliver on the IDA20 Commitment on Women’s Economic Inclusion

For the first time, this year, the International Development Association (IDA20) policy commitments included a specific target on women’s productive economic inclusion, recognizing its critical contribution to building back better after the COVID-19 pandemic. This PEI Open House discussed how productive economic inclusion programs are evolving to accelerate empowerment outcomes for women by strengthening and diversifying livelihoods, tackling social norms, and enhancing agency and wellbeing.

Moderated by the World Bank’s Global Director for Gender, the event began with opening remarks from the World Bank's Social Protection and Jobs Global Director, followed by a conversation with Village Enterprise Vicepresident of programs and a panel discussion showcasing good practices from Cameroon and Colombia. The event closed with a final summation by Director Assistant of Gender Program at Center for Global Development and policy fellow and a round of questions and answers.

This PEI Open House in particular is taking place in partnership with the World Bank Group’s yearlong #AccelerateEquality initiative, which explores the important progress made and lessons learned over the last 10 years in closing gender gaps and promoting girl's and women's empowerment
