Delivering Results: Outcomes-Based Financing for Economic Inclusion

BY Partnership for Economic Inclusion
June 17, 2025

As economic inclusion programs scale—now reaching over 70 million people across 88 countries—there is a growing need for more financing, stronger accountability, and results that last. Outcomes-based financing (OBF) offers one promising path forward.

By linking funding to measurable outcomes, OBF creates opportunities to innovate and better align incentives across stakeholders. But how does this model work in practice? And what are the real-world challenges of applying it in complex government-led programs?

Watch this PEI Open House to learn how governments and partners are using OBF to strengthen economic inclusion programming. The session explores lessons from initiatives in Colombia, Palestine, and East Africa, and reflects on the risks, opportunities, and practical considerations of using results-based approaches at scale.

During the event, PEI launched Transforming Economic Inclusion: Government Innovations through Outcomes-Based Financing, the latest In Practice publication, co-authored with Village Enterprise and other contributors. Don’t miss the engaging Q&A where panelists take on audience questions about the future of financing for economic inclusion.
