Global Learning Event 2021
We look forward to welcoming you to the Partnership for Economic Inclusion’s first global learning event to be held in the spring of 2021! Confirmed dates and details will be available soon.
The Global Learning Event (GLE) 2021 will be a signature virtual event for the PEI. World Bank task teams, global stakeholders, and government partners will come together to share knowledge and collectively advance and influence global development thinking on economic inclusion in the context of Sustainable Development Goal 1 to end poverty in all its forms by 2030. This event is particularly relevant now, due to the fall-out from COVID-19, with over 700 million people facing the trap of extreme poverty. For the first time in two decades this number is on the rise.
The event comes at a moment of growing demand for know-how within the World Bank Group (WBG) and with other organizations, even as sharing of best practices remains limited. There is consensus that the technical clarity on the subject is still developing and the definitions and scope of household-level economic inclusion programs vary widely. The State of Economic Inclusion 2021 Report will be influential in mitigating these challenges. This report will be instrumental in shaping the GLE, providing a strong framing offering content to help inform the discussion. There will be a strong focus on operational practice. Participants will have opportunities to share experiences and lessons learned and government stakeholders, who are key to policy and regulatory reform and scaling up economic inclusion programs, will be at the forefront as they build their national strategies.
